Jet-Set Sips: The Cloud Breaker Cocktail

A Friday Drink Recipe from 40,000 Feet | Shared by Private Jet Flight Attendant Olivia James, Based in Seattle, WA

At Iacofano’s In-Flight Catering, we don’t just deliver meals—we deliver moments. And today, we’re thrilled to introduce a signature cocktail recipe brought to us by one of our most trusted partners in the skies: Olivia James, a seasoned private jet flight attendant flying out of Seattle, Washington. Olivia has served elite passengers across the country, and she’s sharing this refreshingly refined cocktail exclusively with us—so your next inflight experience can taste just as elevated as it feels.

When she’s wheels-up from top Pacific Northwest private aviation hubs like KBFI (Boeing Field), KSEA (Seattle-Tacoma International), KPAE (Paine Field), or even KOLM (Olympia), KTIW (Tacoma Narrows), or KBLI (Bellingham)—Olivia turns to The Cloud Breaker as the perfect post-landing drink. It’s light, bold, and as unforgettable as the views of Mount Rainier from 40,000 feet.

The Cloud Breaker

Flavor Profile: Bright citrus, floral herbals, refined effervescence
Best Served: On the rocks, in a short glass
Perfect For: Private jet travel, luxury catering menus, FBO client receptions, or a VIP toast on the tarmac

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz craft gin (Seattle’s Westland or Portland’s Aviation Gin both shine)
  • 1 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • ½ oz elderflower liqueur (such as St-Germain)
  • ¼ oz lemon juice
  • Splash of soda water
  • Garnish: fresh rosemary + grapefruit slice

Directions:

  1. Shake gin, grapefruit juice, elderflower liqueur, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
  3. Add a splash of soda water for a smooth, bubbly finish.
  4. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and a slice of grapefruit—elevated, fresh, and distinctly Northwest.

How to Serve This Grapefruit & Mint Sparkler on a Private Jet

🔧 Modifications for Flight

  1. Glassware: Replace the breakable glass with:
    • Acrylic or Tritan tumblers (crystal-clear, durable)
    • Prepackaged sealed cocktail pouches for long flights
  2. Garnish Control:
    • Pre-skewer the citrus slices and mint sprig so they don’t float loose.
    • Avoid excessive garnish that could block sipping or spill.
  3. Ice Management:
    • Use slow-melt aviation cubes or reusable ice spheres.
    • Pack in an insulated carrier or prep fresh onboard with clear tongs.
  4. Effervescence & Altitude:
    • Carbonated drinks expand at altitude. Fill no more than ¾ full.
    • If batching, use a soda siphon just before service or seal in small bottles.

Olivia’s Story: Why She Shared The Cloud Breaker with Iacofano’s

“I’ve flown tech CEOs, pro athletes, and international art dealers across the West Coast—and when it’s time to relax after a flight, The Cloud Breaker is what they reach for. It cuts through cabin fatigue with bright citrus and feels both clean and indulgent. Iacofano’s Catering makes every flight taste better, and I wanted to share this recipe so their inflight clients could enjoy my go-to drink anywhere.”
